SXSW 2008 is upon us

I can’t believe it, but it’s that time of year again. At this very moment thousands of web geeks are descending on Austin from around the globe. Be sure and say hello if you run into me.

If you’re in town today, come join members of Refresh Austin for pints at The Gingerman. Otherwise, you’re welcome to join us for a Refresh lunch @ BD Riley’s on Friday and at the Phizzpop Design Challenge monday night!

I just barely had time this morning to finally give the panel schedule a thorough perusal. My tentative schedule can be found at http://sched.org/sxsw2008/atxryan.

Recap: SXSWi Austin Mixer at Mohawk

Well, I just got back from this evening’s SXSW Mixer for Austin. Overall it was good times and only the slightest prelude to the frenzy of parties that is SXSW.

I was able to hang out with fellow Refresh Austin members (Alex Jones, Tim Thompson, Grant Hutchins, Justin Perkins), former Statesman.com coworkers (Nick Welp, Wendy Mitchell, Omar Gallaga, and Jason Meek), and Geek Austin’s Lynn Bender and Michelle Greer.

It was also great to meet up with new Twitter friend LaniAR of rerevealed.com and new contact Benn Rosales of SinglePointe Realty. They’re both promoting better use of technology and media in real estate via Agent Genius.

Oh, and the Southern Sirens are looking to be booked for a SXSW day party or evening event.

Refresh Austin announces SXSW party

It’s official! Refresh Austin will be joining forces with PhizzPop Design Challenge to co-host their SXSW party and competition finale.

The party will be held at Maggie Mae’s on Monday, March 10th at 7:00 PM. You can find more details at http://www.refreshaustin.org/2008/refresh-austins-sxswi-party/.

Come out to see the great work the PhizzPop competitors have created, have drinks and conversations with Refreshers and other geeks from around the world, and have a chance to win thousands in prizes.

I hope to see you out there!

New Refresh Austin website launched!

I’m very pleased to announce that a redesigned Refresh Austin website has been launched. Many thanks (and beers!) are due to Alex for leading up this effort and putting in the time to get the site up. However, the work is not done. The site needs to grow in terms of content and participation from all of Refresh Austin’s many talented members. Please visit http://www.refreshaustin.org/2008/refresh-austin-relaunch/ to learn the many ways to contribute.
